As the year has been winding down, we’ve been busy behind the scenes preparing for another great year in 2023. Earlier last month, the EdTech executive council met in Wellington to host our annual strategy session to brainstorm how we can best serve our local EdTech community.
It was a very productive day full of scribbling over whiteboards, consuming far too many coffees, and coming up with an action plan for 2023. Thank you to AWS for hosting and providing a space for us to come together, and to Dorothy Burt for zooming in to share valuable insights on the wonderful work they do at Manaiakalani Education Trust.
The objectives of our strategy session was to review the breadth of work undertaken by EdTechNZ in 2022, to collaboratively discuss the planned initiatives for 2023 and align these around our key priorities, and to collectively come together and connect as a team.
Our outcomes were to share a way of assessing opportunities and projects for 2023, so that we can focus on our key focus areas to support our EdTech community in the most impactful way.
From our strategy session, we have nailed down our overarching theme of equity, with key focus areas on building awareness of the EdTech community, and doubling down on our efforts to support EdTechs for export.
Our strategic initiatives are still in the planning stages, but here’s a quick highlight of what we have planned:
- EdTech website functionality enhanced, and development on our EdTech Interactive Directory: Our main driver for updating our website is to mark EdTechNZ as the voice of the community, to assist those who export to gain more visibility in our community.
- Boast our storytelling: Storytelling is a powerful way to showcase the amazing products and services within our community. We will be establishing a ‘service-style’ way for our members to tell their stories on our website and in our newsletters.
- More engagement with government: Although we have great relationships with the Ministry of Education and Education New Zealand, we want to make closer relationships directly with Minister Hipkins. By further building this relationship, we hope to become a more integrated member of government delegations off shore to assist in our EdTech for export efforts.
As always, we have a calendar of regular in-person events and webinars throughout the year for our community to come together and connect with one another. Make sure you keep an eye out for our event listings on our website and in your inbox to register.
Thank you to all that attended our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch end of year events – it was fantastic to celebrate our collective efforts in 2022. We hope that you have a safe and relaxing holiday season and we’ll see you next year!
