In August, EdTechNZ will be calling for nominations for five seats to sit on our Executive Council (EC).
We are looking for people who are passionate about lifelong learning, global education, honouring the intent of Te Tiriti, and learning and education technology, and how it can be creatively used to execute on our mission. We are looking for passionate and engaged people to join our team and make a difference. We are not limited to the compulsory education sector, it spans early childhood, primary, intermediate and secondary, tertiary, vocational training, private training establishments and industry including continuous education and learning – we take a “cradle to grave” view of education and learning.
Additionally, we’d like to see a lot more diversity and inclusion represented in our leadership team. Diversity is broad and complex but as an example, we see within the tech sector, under representation of women and even more so of Maori and Pasifika.
As a member of our EC, you get to be part of this journey, and you also get to choose a project that you are passionate about, that aligns with our mission.
We also have the latitude for additional people to be involved, including guest seats and non-council members participating in some of our project work.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, then feel free to nominate them or come back to me with any questions, or simply put your hand up – I’d love to hear from you and have a chat.
Some background on EdTechNZ to provide a little insight and context:
We aim to empower learning with technology that embodies our unique Aotearoa New Zealand identity.
Education is the foundation on which all of New Zealand will prosper and grow.
The Education Technology Association of New Zealand (EdTechNZ) is the voice of EdTech in New Zealand, supporting the growth of the sector.
Our mission is to improve the lives of people and increase the access to, quality and impact of education through innovative technology, for the benefit of educators and learners in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.
Treaty of Waitangi
We recognise and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, striving to work in partnership with Māori as tangata whenua. Tikanga and Te Reo Māori are highly valued, part of our organisational fabric and reinforce our unique position in the world.”
Our members share a passion for the potential that education technology can bring for New Zealand’s prosperity. Members include EdTech companies, educators and training providers. Together, we provide an independent voice for the EdTech ecosystem.
Our main project work over the next 12 months will be around: running more events, better connecting the EdTech ecosystem as well as other things that our members and EC are passionate about!
I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
